Can Privacy Survive the Digital Age?
May 8, 2018
In my second post on The Volokh Conspiracy on topics related to my book, The Right of Publicity: Privacy Reimagined for a Public World (Harvard Univ. Press 2018), I consider whether privacy can survive the digital age.
Much of the story that my book uncovers provides insights into how best to understand and address today's challenges to privacy. Millenials are often thought not to care about their privacy, but studies routinely find this not to be true--they just do not see privacy as about secrecy, and neither did their counterparts in the mid-to-late 1800s, as my book and this post reveal: https://reason.com/volokh/2018/05/08/is-privacy-dead
