Earlier this week, Representative Maria Salazar circulated a discussion draft of a bill to provide federal "property rights in likeness and voice" to combat concerns over AI-generated replicas of recording artists' and actors' performances. This continues the recent interest in Congress of tackling publicity rights at a federal level in light of ever-improving AI technology. This new draft from the House follows on the heels of the Senate's circulation in the Fall of a discussion draft of the No Fakes Act. The House draft legislation is titled the "No Artificial Intelligence Fake Replicas and Unauthorized Duplications Act of 2024" or the "No AI FRAUD Act."  I will provide a more detailed analysis of the bill soon, but in the meantime, it is available here.
